Shorter blasts of sun exposure are by far better than longer extended periods or no exposure at all!
Why does applying Herzog's Oxygen sun cream produce a better and longer lasting tan than not applying it? Through a process called melanogenesis, Melanocytes
produce melanin which is a pigment found in the skin, eyes and hair.
An increase in melanin from melanogenesis leads to a longer lasting
tan which is in direct contrast to the tan that originates from
oxidation of already existing melanin. In other words: By increasing
melanogenesis you will ensure you get a better and longer lasting
tan than you would ordinarily achieve from sun bathing. The more
Melanin you have the better and longer the tan and the better your
natural protection levels, against sun damage. In this way anything
proven to increase melanogenesis can be legally determined as a
TAN ACCELERATOR and a TAN MAXIMISER. Karin Herzog is very proud to announce the findings of a recent independent clinical trial by a leading European accredited research laboratory, which was designed to assess the melanogenesis action of Herzog's Oxygen Sun cream. The trial concluded that applying Herzog's Oxygen therapy will increase melanogenesis within the skin, and that for optimum effect, because the results are cumulative, you should apply Oxygen sun cream to the body and face for at least 2 weeks prior to exposure and also daily during exposure as both a pre and post Sun cream. Why should I use Herzog's Oxygen cream instead of any other over the counter tan accelerating product? Traditionally Tan accelerators or maximiser were ingested in tablet form, many people have a reluctance to taking tablets. In addition, creams that suggest an accelerating and maximising effect will often contain chemicals such as 'Psoralen' and 'Coumarin', but these have been banned in some countries as they have been proven to increase skin photosensitivity. Herzog's oxygen therapy includes none of these banned substances and simply works by delivering increased oxygen, water and vitamins to the skin to enable the skin to increase its functionality and protection. Karin Herzog oxygen therapy, along with ALL products in this advanced range, are 100% paraben and preservative free, and work on the principle of giving back to the skin what it: 1) Recognises, 2) Needs and 3) Utilises. It is the natural option for optimum skin health and wellbeing. Why is a tan accelerator and maximiser a good idea Applying a proven tan accelerator and maximiser that is safe and effective at increasing melanogenesis means that you can reduce your exposure to direct sunlight, and still get a healthy and all over, even tan. Increasing the production of melanin, and helping increase circulation and the distribution of melanin will also help you achieve an all over even tan and can even work to tan areas of traditionally low pigment that previously remained white and caused a broken and blotchy tan. Would I not be best to cover up and avoid the sun all together and apply a maximum strength Sun block? Whilst we advocate the application of a higher SPF cream on top of you Herzog Oxygen sun cream, which has a natural SPF of just 4, it is also important to mention that as in all things moderation and common sense seem to be the order of the day. Avoiding the sun all together and using blocks can also have a down side by substantially weakening our natural production of Vitamin D, which can have a detrimental effect on our health. Using Herzog's Oxygen sun cream means that you can exposure yourself to the sun in shorter bursts and so gain the necessary stimulus to Vitamin D production for health, and get a tan but not linger too long and risk additional damage in the search for the sun kissed look. Vitamin D is actually indicated to help prevent some types of cancer, helps boost the immune system, prevents SAD and is also beneficial against cardiovascular disease. A little exposure to the sun is therefore good for us, which is why tan accelerators that are chemical free and natural are beneficial. We do however stress that sensible use and application of SPF's are necessary for extended and severe exposure. Recent findings have suggested that the use of sunscreen with an SPF of 8, inhibits more than 95% of vitamin D production in the skin. Adequate amounts of vitamin D can be made in the skin after only ten to fifteen minutes of sun exposure at least two times per week to the face, arms, hands, or back without sunscreen. This applies in sunlight when the UV index is greater than 3, which occurs daily within the tropics and during the spring and summer seasons in temperate regions. Using a Tan Accelerator like Herzog's Oxygen sun cream will help to facilitate this minimum exposure with maximum effect. Shorter blasts of exposure are by far better than longer extended blasts or no exposure at all. How much Vitamin D do I need? Adequate intake levels of Vitamin D have been established as follows by the Food and Nutrition Board at the Institute of Medicine of The National Academies (formerly National Academy of Sciences). Adequate intakes depend only on age (i.e., they are the same regardless of sex, pregnancy, or lactation).
You can get Vitamin D form the following foods
Supplements can also be taken. Herzog's oxygen therapy including our Oxygen Sun Cream, has been clinically proven to increase the natural production of melanin producing, melanocytes. This increases the individual’s natural protection against sun damage and proves that using Herzog will both Tan accelerate and maximise. Further reading and related products:
