Why is it important to exfoliate?
Exfoliation is a key and fundamental step in treating the following:
So why is it that so few of us include it in our home skin care regime? I can assure you that every professional salon treatment you have, will have an element of exfoliation. The results of the exfoliation and the severity depends on the task in hand and the type of agent used, and there are quite a few to choose from. Most products use acids, or even a cocktail of acids to exfoliate, that's fine since many acids have proven their efficiency at removing the surface layer of the skin. However BE WARNED! We at Karin Herzog believe that you should NEVER exfoliate the skin, without giving back to the skin in terms of healing and repairing. Like a bank balance, a healthy balance is only achieved when you replenish and replace what is taken away, and increase what is put in. Karin Herzog alone, have the worlds only patented and proven oxygen therapy from a simple application of a cream, which used post exfoliation, will repair, nurture, build and stimulate the skin, rendering exfoliation an important and safe daily practice for great and enhanced results. A closer look:Our Egyptian ancestors knew a thing or too. Exfoliation was a key part of their beauty regime: A coarse granular agent like sand in water could be used to stimulate the circulation, bringing fresh blood and oxygen to the surface to feed the skin and remove dry parched outer cells. In the middle ages they knew to use the tartaric acid found in wine, to help dissolve the surface cells. Not cheap and I can think of better ways of using a fine claret! The point is, we have always used exfoliation to help maintain a clear and youthful complexion. There is a constant layer of dead skin cells, that sit on the surface of the epidermis. At certain times of the year this layer is thicker than at others. Acting like blotting paper, this dead layer absorbs the majority of any creams applied to the skin and can stop them from penetrating and reduce their efficiency. You have no need or use for this dead layer, and will benefit from its removal. It is safe, painless and quick and results will show almost immediately. Rather than looking dull and devitalised, the skin will be fresher, softer and often more hydrated. In fact, regular and appropriate exfoliation can often help dry or sun damaged skin tremendously as it allows the real treatment products (in Herzog's case our oxygen therapy) to have maximum absorption and optimum effect. conversely, for those who suffer from Acne or oily skin, regular exfoliation is not only rewarding it is essential as it helps keep pores un-plugged and able to breath, preventing trapped bacteria breeding and multiplying, which would otherwise further encourage more spots. What are the choices from Karin Herzog:
Oily / problematic / acne skin
Normal /slightly dry or aged skin
Scaring or severe dry or acne skins and collagen stimulant
